WENDOVER
MUSIC

Wendover Music was started
in 1995, as an arts development project from St Mary's Church Wendover and
the people of Wendover in partnership with Aylesbury Vale Leisure Services.
There are four concerts each year, in April, May, June and July, with artists
of both national and international acclaim. Concerts take place at St Mary's
Church, Wendover, well known for its superb natural acoustics and recently
(and wonderfully) refurbished.


April 14th 2012, 7.30pm

EMMA JOHNSON [clarinet]
& JOHN LENEHAN [piano]

The
much loved clarinettist will play a sparkling recital of pieces by
Debussy, Schumann, Weber, Copland and Milhaud. This is Emma's third
visit to Wendover, each time she has received raptuous applause.


May 12th 2012, 7.30pm

ALAN BARNES JAZZ OCTET

A
figurehead of British jazz assembles an octet of British jazz stars
to play arrangements of Duke Ellington, classics and the specially
composed three-piece Wendover Suite, depicting life in a Chilterns
village. SPECIAL TICKET PRICE OF £10 FOR THIS CONCERT.


June 09th 2012, 7.30pm

HEATH STRING QUARTET

The
prize winning and highly thought of young string quartet, formed in
2002, plays works by Haydn, Tippett and Tchaikovsky.


July 07th 2011, 7.30pm

BENJAMIN GROSVENOR [piano]

Nineteen-year-old
virtuoso, former winner of BBC Young Musician of the Year and
star of the First Night of the Proms returns to Wendover with a recital
of Chopin, Bach, Scriabin, Rachmaninov and Ravell.

The beautiful parish
church of St Mary's has been at the centre of community life in Wendover
since the thirteenth century. Today it continues to be a place where music,
beauty, faith and life meet and take the heritage of the past to future
generations. It has been recently refurbished.

This year's
A.G.M. will take place on Saturday 03rd March 2012, 7.30pm. at St Mary's
Church, Wendover. Following the formal business, a musical recital will
be given by various groups from Aylesbury Music Centre; nibbles, wine and
chit chat follow.
